SLAM proudly present the second in their series of limited edition 7” vinyl and digital releases.

Quasimodo’s Dream, the 1981 classic by The Reels; voted number 10 in the top Australian songs of all time by APRA has now been reinterpreted by Gotye, with Perfect Tripod (featuring Eddie Perfect & Tripod). A limited vinyl release of this song includes a special collaboration by internationally acclaimed visual artist Patricia Piccinini.

SLAM approached Wally (Gotye) to represent them as a SLAMbassador after he’d just caught Tripod’s show at the Sydney Opera House. Wally was taken by the idea that Tripod were working with Eddie Perfect on a show of Acapella renditions of the classic Australian songbook and the seed was planted for the group’s version of Quasimodo’s Dream.

To enhance SLAM’s 7” series, highly respected visual artists have embraced the opportunity to work with their musical contemporaries. Patricia Piccinini’s visual interpretation of Quasimodo’s Dream is an exciting addition to the project.

Gotye and the other artists that support SLAM may never need to play small gigs again, yet they appreciate how important small gigs are; in backyards, garages, traditional pubs, small bars, warehouses, paddocks or wherever they happen. Between the bedroom and the world stage, we need gigs of all sizes as stepping stones in a musician’s path.

SLAM’s Pledge project is also about to announce a very special evening with with Gotye, where a group of lucky people will be able to grab the opportunity to dine with Gotye at his favourite Melbourne restaurant, then catch a live gig… Wally’s treat.

All proceeds raised go to help SLAM with their fighting fund.  Pledge Now Open – pledges close May 15, 2013.  Limited edition collectors copy to the first 1,000 vinyl orders.  Orders fulfilled after crowd-funding is closed and in accordance with the terms available at Pledge Music.   www.pledgemusic.com/projects/slam
