with Katherine Cooper
Sweet and haunting, beautiful and healing are some words that have been used to describe Brisbane, folk/roots outfit, The Willow Seed, playing to the heartfelt and soulful tunes of singer-songwriter, Catherine Stevens. Joined by bass player, Stephen Meldrum and Sabrina Quek on keys, the trio will take you on a journey from moments of quiet reflection through to uplifting and catchy grooves that will get your hips swaying and feet stomping.

The surprise packet of the local music scene, Astrid & The Asteroids band has spent the past 12 months carving out an enviable reputation thanks to their blend of pop, soul, jazz and front woman Astrid Jorgensen’s stunning vocal range.Live, they have become a must-see act – but the release of this their second EP showcases not only the band’s remarkable playing, but a honed sense of creative identity all to their own. The EP release has been led by the two wildly diverse singles ‘West End’ and ‘Autopsy’ – both of which have attracted plenty of attention at radio and online.

Capre’s enigmatic vocals permeate through their euphoric melodies and the more you try to categorise their sound, the more it slips through your fingers. There’s perfect fusion between the pervasive guitar riffs, and the electronic and hip-hop beats that sound painstakingly crafted. Among many, the notable influences for C&O’s Patrick Costello (guitar/vocals) and Patrick Hameon (sound production/keyboard) include Bonobo, Pink Floyd and Ta-Ku. With their first EP now underway, the Patrick duo are geared to make their noise heard!

Megan Cooper’s love affair with vintage country, bluegrass and rootsy blues comes across in her self-penned songs that she serves with a suburban heart, intoxicating melodies and a twist of lime. Megan has just released her debut album Ghosts, Choirs & Kings With featuring a spectrum of tunes that go from the quirky to the high lonesome, her sound flirts with Americana and folk, while still being heavily weighted in traditional country.

Western Front is a 6-piece Brisbane band, blending orchestral, folk, and acoustic tones into a unique rock sound. Led by singer-songwriter Graham Akhurst, the band members bring their individual musical styles, including jazz drums, metal lead-guitar, classical piano, folk and blues guitar to create a hybrid sound unique in and of itself.
Sunday 8th December – Pat Tierney
with Brian Sexton and Jeremy Newell
Pat Tierney’s music is heartfelt, genuine and carefully crafted. He has an innate ability to tell stories through song. His music is brimming with old time folk and blues influences, but he has found his groove in incorporating the sounds of his trusty lap slide guitar. Pat has been playing music for a long time and intends on bringing his music to audiences for a long time to come.

Phil Smith is a Brisbane based folk/ alt-country singer songwriter influenced by the likes of Dylan, Springsteen and Ryan Adams. He has 2 full-length albums and an EP under his belt, with a 3rd album due out this coming November.
Tuesday 10th December – Dom Miller
Dom Miller used to be in Rocketsmiths. They broke up and now he plays by himself. Sometimes with a band, but all under his own name. He plays indie pop/folk that your cool friends won’t like but your cool Mum will probably really dig. He imagines himself as a mixture of Bob Evans and a male Courtney Barnett, but he’s probably really nothing like that at all.
