If you’ve got a smartphone or a camera, and have a story to tell, then you should enter Samford Shorts!
Samford Shorts Film Festival, a project of Artslink Queensland’s Animating Spaces program supported by Moreton Bay Regional Council, aims to celebrate the Samford Valley and surrounds by showing locally produced or themed films on the big screen. People from all over Brisbane are encouraged to unleash their creative side and submit a three-minute film that features the Samford community.
Project Coordinators Rachel Choi and Joshua Wilkinson are very excited to bring this project to the Samford Community. The two recently attended the Samford Show on 12 and 13 July, which gave them a great overview of the unique stories, people and places Samford had to offer.
“It was an amazing reminder of the wide array of individuals and smaller community groups within the region. We hope to receive films from people of all ages and filming experience to provide a snapshot of Samford, today,” they said.
Samford Valley is located half an hour from Brisbane, and boasts a vibrant community and many picturesque locations. There’s definitely no shortage of material for budding filmmakers!
Selected films will be shown on the big screen on Friday 12 September 2014 in the heart of Samford Village in John Scott Park. This is a community event and everyone is invited to come and enjoy a free, fun and entertaining evening suitable for all ages.
So if you have a camera and a Samford story to tell, start filming! Your work could make it on to the big screen. Or, simply come along to the screening and enjoy a family-friendly night of entertainment.
