After an overwhelming response to the first single Brother Sister from her new EP BLOOM (out Oct 10 through SUGARRUSH/MGM) Brisbane’s Sahara Beck has just released the second single PRETENDER – and it’s already making waves with airplay around the country.
Talking about the new pull-no-punches track, Sahara explains: “Pretender is about running into someone that you used to go to school with and you both tell each other about your lives and what you’ve been up to. Inevitably someone always slides in “I missed you so much” when you both know that neither of you have actually thought about the other person in a long time.”
Recorded at Queensland’s Applewood studios and produced by Sahara and engineer on the rise Sean Cook – and mixed by Jeff Lovejoy – the Bloom EP is a massive step up sonically for the young songwriter.
When she arrived in Brisbane a couple of years back, the then 16 year-old already had a full-length album behind her and a burgeoning reputation as an artist to watch. But 2013’s release – You Could Be Happy – really saw the buzz start to build. Led by the striking singles ‘Bang Bang Bang’ and ‘C’Mon Man You’re Dead’ Sahara marked her arrival as an artist not just brimming with talent, but with plenty to say.
Since the release of that EP Sahara has started building plenty of fans around the country thanks to airplay, critical nods and a live show the always leaves people wanting more.
The release of ‘Pretender’ – with a new clip to be debuted soon – comes as Sahara kicks off the next batch of shows to launch the EP…the first of many over the coming months.
BLOOM will be released nationally on October 10 through SUGARRUSH Music/MGM.
