River Heads is the new project for Noel Mengel, also of The Casuarinas, and Lovers of Brisbane is the first song to be released from an album set for release in 2017.
The song is another extension of Mengel’s creative self: his novel RPM won the Qld Premier’s Literary Award for best unpublished manuscript in 2010. It was published by University of Qld Press in 2011.
The album was recorded with Melbourne producer and arranger Peter Jetnikoff (The Gatekeepers).
River Heads launch the song with a set for Phase 4 Records in Bakery Lane, Fortitude Valley, on Dec 10.
It’s a rare family musical outing, with sets from Spotfires (Jordan Mengel) and OJ Mengel.
The music starts at noon.
