Fresh from kicking off proceedings to a packed crowd at Splendour In The Grass, Melbourne musician Chet Faker will embark on his national tour this week in support of new single ‘Love and Feeling‘. ‘Love & Feeling’ is at radio now.
Chet Faker will kick off his national tour in Perth on Friday 3 August at The Bakery, followed by a show in Fremantle on Saturday 4 August at Mojos. Catch Chet Faker on Thursday 16 August at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney (Sold Out)Friday 17 August at Trinity Bar in CanberraFriday 24 August at Cats @ Rocket Bar in Adelaide, Friday 7 September at Revolt in Melbourne (Sold Out)Saturday 8 September at Revolt in Melbourne (Sold Out), and Friday 14 September at Up Late @ GOMA in Brisbane.
After selling out his first Melbourne show in less than two days, Chet Faker’s second Melbourne gig has sold out in under a week. His show at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney is also sold out.
Hailing from the tight-knit disco and house music scene in Melbourne and taking elements from an acoustic past, Chet Faker has carved out a unique style that fuses personal stories of love and loss with an electronica soul that reaches far beyond his homeland. Shrouded in secrecy, hidden behind an alias and disguised by a beard, Chet Faker enjoys mystery. He came to everyone’s attention when his cover of Blackstreet’s classic ‘No Diggity’ hit #1 on Hype Machine. But far from rushing into the limelight, Chet built on the popularity of  ‘No Diggity’ through a series of tracks released online, creating an insatiable hunger from fans for more from this part jazz, part soul and part electronic artist.
2012 has been an incredible year for Chet Faker. In March he played stand-out performances at SXSW, including a performance at the Filter Magazine Party and was touted as a ‘must see’ act by The Austin Chronicle. On 23 March 2012 his debut EP Thinking In Textures was released on Opulent / Remote Control in Australia, on Chess Club Records in the UK and on Downtown Records in the USA to widespread acclaim. Chet went on to sell out his Sydney and Brisbane Thinking in Textures launches and a remarkable three Melbourne launches in April, before taking off to the UK to perform at The Great Escape Festival. Chet went on to perform at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Vivid Live Festival and toured Europe with The Temper Trap.
Thinking in Textures, out now via Opulent / Remote Control, is an acclaimed debut release from the Melbourne musician. First single ‘Terms and Conditions’ is a gorgeously penned track that has been garnering airplay across the globe – everyone from FBi Radio in Sydney and Triple R in Melbourne to Mary-Anne Hobbs of XFM and Rob Da Bank of BBC Radio 1 in London have been playing the track. New single ‘I’m Into You’ has been picked up by triple j and BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe (UK), who has been playing the track on his Next Hype segment. The track peaked at #1 on Hype Machine, the worldwide indie music aggregator and has had over 160,000 listens on Soundcloud to date.
Don’t miss Chet Faker at a venue near you in Sydney, Perth, Fremantle, Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane this August and September.
