After the successful release of his first single Courtney’s Moving To Newtown,Sydney based singer songwriter Danny Yau announces the release of his follow up single “The Inner West Misses You” from his forthcoming debut solo album Do You Think We’ll Live Here Forever out on September 25th.Celebrating the forthcoming LP Danny Yau will join launches with Family Fold. “I have some cousins who were born almost exactly a year apart, and they always had to share their birthdays. As a birthday non-sharer, I always felt sorry for them.”Danny Yau tells. With the new album, comes a new mindset, so Danny thought whom better to share a “birthday” with than Family Fold, the new project from Paul Andrews (ex-Lazy Susan). The balloons are coming out to co-release the new Family Fold album “Lustre Glo” and Danny Yau’s debut LP “Do You Think We’ll Live Here Forever?” with a special intimate show on the 26th of September at theGasoline Pony in Marrickville. “Not only is it a bigger night than your boring old one-person birthday, there is actually a chance of meeting new people.“– Danny Yau

At age 15, Danny Yau gave up the dream of being a comic book artist when he heard You Am I in a comic book store. Less than two years later, he had given up comics completely, learnt enough guitar to write his first songs, and play in his first high school band called ‘Parker’ (a comic book reference). In the years to follow Danny immersed himself in music playing in several bands including The HummingbirdsJosh PykeLazy SusanBryan EstepaThe Aerial MapsModern Giant and many more. Danny also fronted his own band – The Reservations, who made some waves over a decade ago with a low-key country pop album called ‘Last Impressions’.

Then Danny did the thing that everyone does in their twenties and moved overseas. The last Reservations album (‘Victorias’) covered the London years and having settled back in Australia, the question was – what to do about music?

The result is Do You Think We’ll Live Here Forever?the first album under Danny Yau’s name. It’s about returning to Australia, and finding where you fit.

“The songs from the album are set in the Inner West of Sydney, but it’s really set in the neighbourhood where you feel you might make a home. Maybe you’re stuck? But maybe you’re happy. It’s the people you still see around, and the people you don’t see anymore. And the local pub.” – Danny Yau.

‘Do You Think We’ll Live Here Forever?’ was written over the period of 1 year and recorded predominantly at the end of 2014 with Tim Kevin (Youth GroupCity LightsBuddy Glass) at Nurse Studios Marrickville. Some of Danny’s good friends and long time musical collaborators lent a hand on the record including Lisa Caruso adding vocals to several tracks and Jim Moginie from Oceanic Studios who opened his huge collection of keyboards to Danny providing a distinct vintage colour to the record.

The Album is a nostalgic collection of romantic indie pop with the opening track ‘Courtney’s Moving To Newtown (To Start A Band)’ recalling mid era R.E.M. whilst ‘Punch Drunk Love’ is reminiscent of a sleepy Velvet Underground (circa that third album). There are big rock songs about not rocking out (‘Stay Home’) and lots of girls (‘12 Girls’). The heart of the album is ‘The Inner West Misses You’, a soulful ballad about the people who move away.

Do You Think We’ll Live Here Forever? is out on September 25th, launching live a day later at Gasoline Pony in Marrickville with  support from Family Fold – national tour dates to be announced soon.
