Sessions also include debate starters like whether heavy metal has the best relationship with its fans, the future of Australian hip hop, and the battle over country music. The conference will also introduce presentations from Spotify’s chief economist Will Page and data journalist Liv Buli from Forbes Magazine and Next Big Sound to discuss new industry models, while the Associaion of Artist Managers (AAM) will launch their long-awaited music managers’ code of conduct.

There will be an entire panel dedicated to discussion of triple j and its place within the Australian media landscape, a debate on the importance of community radio and a robust discussion on the how the music industry will look in the future.

Peter Noble will unpack the success of Bluesfest while Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio will discuss the growth of their now international St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival. Over 50 international guests will cover topics like publishing, marketing and live music export strategies around the world. We’ll also hear inspirational keynotes from Neil Finn and the church, with the event closing with artists like Megan Washington, Russell Morris and The Bedroom Philosopher discussing the lifestyle of an artist, unpacking the peaks and troughs of a career musician.
