BIGSOUND Music+Design has stepped up another level with the announcement of its final program, along with details of the CMD Live Design Lab, and Artisan Beer+Design showcases. The new design showcases build on the huge success of BIGSOUND’s live artist showcases, bringing together creative product with industry and public, resulting in a discovery experience like no other.

An Australian first, the CMD Live Design Lab is a purpose built facility where designers from all sides of the industry,Music+Design speakers and delegates come together. Led by strategic design and innovation studio CMD, a core team of Brisbane studios will work collaboratively to explore and solve music industry problems, live and on site at BIGSOUND. Whether it’s designing concepts or simply continuing discussions started on the panels, the multidisciplinary Lab will be a unique opportunity to bring about discourse and action. The CMD Live Design Lab runs 10am-4pm, 10-12 September.

Open to the public, Artisan Beer+Design is a unique pop up lounge, showcasing music, design, and crafted beer. From hand-built motorcycles to virtual reality experiences, Artisan Beer+Design will showcase the work and wares of some of Australia’s hottest design talent alongside locally crafted beers curated by boutique brewery, The Scratch, along with stands from sustainably designed Street Food Australia.

Located in the car park of Artisan gallery, across the street from the hub of BIGSOUND at Fortitude Valley’s Judith Wright Centre, delegates and public can experience lounge areas created by local design studios, interact with design product and take in the tunes of some of Australia’s newest acts.

With the final Music+Design program now online, now is the time to register for the event! Joining the luminary list of already announced speakers, including Nick Cave (via satellite), Vello Virkhaus (V Squared Labs – USA), and John Warwicker (Tomato), are a host of hugely exciting additions. Newly announced speakers include leading film and music video directors, Stephen Lance and Mairi Cameron; acoustics genius Joe Hayes (Acoustics 3D); Dave Thompson of Audiofly; and Matt Davis, founder of [namethemachine]. It’s with huge pride that we announce the final speakers for the inaugural program. Music+Design’s timetable runs 10-11th September, with program and registrations live now at www.bigsound.org.au.
