HILLTOP HOODS
Drinking From The Sun (Golden Era Records/Universal)
Wow, it`s a good day for Aussie hip-hop when Hilltop Hoods can rattle Adele at the top of the charts. So they should. The Adelaide three piece have added another fine album to the cannon. Pressure, Suffa and DJ Debris are overflowing with rhymes that connect on a hundred different levels. The production is top-notch. There`s a lushness in the grooves that demands repeated listens and the guest list includes quality artists like Sia and Black Thought. Highlights include the first single ’I Love It’, which features the aforementioned Sia, alongside ’Speaking In Tongues’, ’Lights Out’ and the K21 remix of the closer ’Good For Nothing’. The album has been three years in the making and the trio have toured their asses off during this time. It`s no surprise that they`re making inroads into Europe and the USA. If you need further convincing check out the Black Thought/Lotek collaboration, ’Living In Bunkers’. Great stuff.
