The 24th annual Alliance Française French Film Festival is delighted to announce that acclaimed filmmaker,
Benoît Jacquot, will be guest-of-honour at the Festival’s Opening Night in Brisbane to be held at Palace Centro
on the evening of Thursday 14 March.
One of France’s most revered directors, Benoit’s latest film, Farewell, My Queen (Les adieux à la Reine), which
stars Diane Kruger as the tragic Marie-Antoinette, is one of the highlights of the 2013 Festival programme.
In addition to receiving 10 nominations at the 2013 César Awards, including ‘Best Picture’ and ‘Best Director’,
Farewell, My Queen was officially selected for the Berlin International Film Festival 2012 and was the winner of
the Louis-Delluc Prize 2012.
Born in Paris, Benoit has directed nearly thirty films and has collaborated with many of France and Europe’s
biggest acting names throughout his long career. In 2003 he directed Massenet’s opera, Werther, at the Royal
Opera House, Convent Garden and has also served as a jury member at the Cannes International Film Festival.
